Rachel Khanna, candidate for State Representative in the 149th district, announced on Monday that she had earned the endorsement of the Connecticut Independent Party.
As the endorsed candidate for both the Democrats and Independents, Khanna’s name will appear on two lines on the November ballot.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Connecticut Independent Party,” said Khanna in a release. “We share a common commitment to good, responsible government that safeguards our state’s resources and works to create an economically vibrant Connecticut where all its citizens have
the opportunity to thrive.”
The Connecticut Independent Party’s endorsement of Khanna is particularly notable given the Party endorsed Khanna’s Republican opponent, Kimberly Fiorello, in the 2020 election.
There are 270 registered Independents in the 149th district, a number that can make a difference in a competitive race.
