Greenwich Parking Services: Merchant Permit Parking Program to Include Spots in Lafayette Place Parking Lot

Greenwich’s  Department of Parking Services is expanding the Merchant Permit parking program to now include a number of annual parking permits in the centrally located Lafayette Place parking lot.

During the initial rollout, twenty (20) annual permits will be offered for 2020 at the annual cost of $720.00. This cost, which includes the required CT sales tax (6.35%), will be pro-rated to the first day of the month in which the permit is sold.

To ensure a fair and equitable distribution of these permits, the following process will be followed:

Parking Services will begin accepting applications on February 24, 2020. The deadline to submit applications will close at 4:00 pm on March 10, 2020.

All approved applications will then be given a number and a random drawing will then take place.

The first 20 numbers drawn will determine which applicants will be offered a permit. All remaining applicants will be placed on a wait list, based on the sequential order in which the remaining numbers are drawn.

Application forms can be found on the Department of Parking Services page of the Town of Greenwich website or can be obtained in person at Parking Services between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm, Monday thru Friday.

The purpose and goal of the Merchant Permit parking program is to offer business owners and their employees a long term daily parking option at a reduced rate. This in turn frees up short term parking locations for those shopping and dining in the Town’s various business districts.

Merchant Permit parking is also offered at the West End parking lot in Old Greenwich, at the William Street and Henry Street parking lots in Byram and at the Soundview parking lot and the Town Hall Garage in central Greenwich.
