DTC Gives Nod to Newcomer to Run for Camillo’s Vacated Seat

On Monday at the DTC meeting at CMS before the RTM meeting there was a caucus vote on a nominee for a candidate to run for First Selectman Fred Camillo’s vacated State Rep seat in District 151. The caucus was comprised of DTC members from the 151st district.

Camillo’s term has a year remaining. He resigned last week after being sworn in as Greenwich First Selectman.

The two candidates were Cheryl Moss, an RTM member and professional photographer, and former two term Board of Education member Jennifer Dayton.

The  vote was 16 for Moss and 9 for Dayton.

A special election is schedule for Jan 21, 2020.

“I care about our schools and families,” Moss said in an email Monday night. “It’s not an upset at all, but an affirmation of the DTC’s outreach to members of the community like me.”

The RTC will pick their candidate on Sunday at a 4:30pm caucus at the Eatern Greenwich Civic Center.
