Glenville Volunteer Fire Company to Honor Mary Hull with 9th David N. Theis Award

The Glenville Volunteer Fire Company will mark the ninth anniversary of the David N. Theis Award for Outstanding Service to the Community by honoring Mary G. Hull for her ongoing, selfless commitment to improving the town of Greenwich.

Over 35 years ago, Mary co-founded Greenwich Green & Clean with the mission to create a cleaner and more beautiful environment in which to live and work. That calling led her down many paths, with results that are evident throughout town, including her work with the Greenwich Youth Conservation Corps, Connections, The Tree Conservancy, and the Merritt Parkway Conservancy.

Mary also collaborates with public and private schools, educating students on the environment and climate change.

Her dedication to the Town of Greenwich exemplifies the spirit of Dave Theis, and the Glenville Volunteer Firefighters say they are excited to recognize her hard work and honor Mary with this year’s award.

The reception and award ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 5, at Tamarack Country Club. Doors open at 6:00pm and the ceremony begins at 7:00pm. Anyone wishing to attend or become a sponsor of the event and celebrate Mary’s wonderful example of servant leadership can contact the Glenville Volunteer Fire Company by sending an email to [email protected] or calling (203) 532-9606.

The award was created to memorialize the life of Selectman David Noble Theis, who passed away unexpectedly in 2014. It celebrates Dave’s spirit of leadership by example and recognizes selfless, compassionate service to the town’s people and organizations. Previous recipients include Livvy Floren, Icy and Scott Frantz, Ed Dadakis, Bea and Peter Crumbine, Larry Simon, and Terry Betteridge, as well as Past Fire Chief Dan Warzoha (honored posthumously) and Kerrin Coyle (also honored posthumously, with Jack Kriskey accepting on her behalf).

The Glenville Volunteer Fire Company, founded in 1903, is dedicated to protecting the lives and
property of the citizens of Greenwich. Through its fundraising efforts, the Glenville Volunteer Fire Company has been able to acquire specialized equipment that greatly enhances their mission to serve Greenwich.
