Tropical Smoothie Café to Celebrate National Flip-Flop Day with Free Smoothies on Greenwich Ave

On June 19, Tropical Smoothie Café will give away a free 24 oz Jetty Punch smoothie to every guest wearing flip flops between 2:00pm and 7:00 pm.

The restaurant, known in town for its better-for-you food and smoothies, is celebrating National Flip Flop Day with the free smoothie event, and raising funds for Camp Sunshine by setting up donation boxes in the Greenwich restaurant. The promotion is also running in over 400 0ther Tropical Smoothie Cafés, including Stamford.

Currently in its ninth year of giving back on National Flip Flop Day, Tropical Smoothie Café is dedicated to helping children with life-threatening illnesses and their families by raising funds to benefit Camp Sunshine, a resort that provides respite, support and joy to these children and their families in times of need.

Tropical Smoothie Café is committed to reaching $1 million in donations this year and donation boxes will be placed in stores nationwide throughout the month of June.

National Flip Flop Day

In addition to offering free smoothies in stores, Tropical Smoothie Café CEO Mike Rotondo will literally go the extra mile to support Camp Sunshine on June 19 with a 7-mile trek down the length of Manhattan in flip flops. To raise awareness and funds for the charity, Rotondo will make several stops along the way at various New York City landmarks to hand out free smoothies to passersby and collect donations.

“Camp Sunshine is a place where families can have fun in a safe and welcoming environment, and one of our favorite times of year is National Flip Flop Day when we do our part to give back to our charity partner,” said Mark Lukachko, owner of Tropical Smoothie Café of Greenwich and Stamford.
