MacInspires Apple ID PSA

Apple ID Update

Does your Apple ID (the one you use to make purchases from iTunes and the AppStore) not have an email address in it? You’re going to need to update your information before March 31st!

Make This…

Back in the day, people were able to use any user name as a sign in to log into their Apple accounts. Apple IDs are used to help identify the person who made a purchase from Apple. This has always been the way that the different sellers of music, movies, TV shows, games, etc have identified who legally owns their content. As times have changed, Apple found it more beneficial for everyone to use peoples’ FULL email addresses as a way of better identifying purchasers.

Into This!

Starting March 31st Apple will no longer be supporting Apple IDs without an email address in it. This has ‘nothing’ to do with changing/updating your password. Users without ‘@‘ symbol in their login, need to go to http://appleID.apple.com to manage their Apple ID information and convert their current Apple ID to one that has a full email address in it.

We hope this helps! MacInspires is always here to answer any of your technology questions!
