A.G. Williams Painting Company with offices in Greenwich and Pelham, NY was recently honored with a General Excellence Award at 914INC. Magazine’s 2015 Small Business Awards for their successes as a thriving business in Westchester County.
For the third year in a row, hundreds of nominations were submitted to Westchester Magazine publication, 914INC. Magazine, with intentions to highlight the achievements of small businesses all across Westchester. The only requirements were that the business was in operation for at least two years, have a team of fewer than 50 full-time employees, and maintain a physical location in Westchester.
After much consideration, 14 honorees were selected to receive awards in four categories: General Excellence, Outstanding Minority-Owned Small Business, Outstanding Nonprofit, and Outstanding Philanthropic Small Business. The winners were featured in a 914INC. issue on newsstands in August, and a cocktail reception was held on September 17 at the Crowne Plaza in White Plains to celebrate the accomplishments of these prosperous local businesses.
President and CEO of A.G. Williams Painting Company, George P. Williams, accepted the award. Under Williams, the family-owned-and-operated business has flourished, even successfully pulling through the recession while managing to acquire new employees and clients in the meantime. Currently, the company has 40 employees and 22 vehicles, and of their residential and commercial clients, 90 percent return for more business. A.G. Williams has experienced consistent growth annually since the 1990s, having grown at this point to a $5 million company with plans for future expansion. Earlier this year, A.G. Williams also won a Family Business Award from Westfair Communications.
The company’s success is due, in part, to the team’s understanding of customer needs and expectations, and their dedication to making sure both of those are consistently met. They’ve also devoted much of their time to philanthropic efforts. Since celebrating its 100th anniversary, A.G. Williams has raised and contributed over $150,000 to local charities and has continued to be heavily involved in the community, working with charities and groups like Habitat for Humanity, Local PBAs and firefighters, The Community Center of Northern Westchester, and Westchester Coalition for the Hungry and Homeless. In addition to donating their time and money to fundraising efforts, they’ve also donated their services to many of these charities and groups as well.
