Double L, a beloved market in Westport known for its commitment to sourcing clean and healthy food from local farms and artisans, has announced its expansion into Greenwich with the launch of delivery service. Double L will now bring fresh fruit and vegetables, artisanal food and gourmet products directly to the doorsteps of Greenwich residents.
Double L is a family-owned business that was originally founded in 1985 by Lloyd Allen as an outdoor farm stand on the side of the road in Westport. Its present iteration as an indoor market in Westport is the collaborative effort of two Fairfield County residents: Lloyd Allen and his wife Gianna Bavido.
Double L provides the community with access to the freshest, high-quality food, sourcing from farmers and small makers, both near and far. Lloyd and Gianna seek out only the finest produce as well as specialty gourmet items including meat, poultry and fish that are hard to find anywhere else. While their emphasis is on local, they also source fresh produce and choice food products from around the world. In addition, Double L offers “Curated Collections,” featuring a hand-selected mix of signature products boxed in a thoughtful presentation and perfect for any gifting needs.
Lloyd Allen commented, “I started Double L as a farm stand on the side of the road in Westport back in 1985 – nearly 40 years later, the mission remains the same: to bring the community only the best clean and healthy food. You can taste the difference in our produce versus what you get at a grocery store. We are very excited to grow and expand into Greenwich – and share the bounty that Westport has grown accustomed to.”
Gianna Bavido added, “Not only do we support the local farming community, we work with countless local vendors, featuring their products in our store. We participated in the Greenwich Historical Society’s pop-up Tavern Garden Markets the last few years, where we received many requests from residents here looking for fresh fruit and vegetables, so we are thrilled to officially come to Greenwich and meet this need for the community.”
Double L now offers same-day delivery to Greenwich from Monday to Friday. Customers can place their orders on their website by 10am for delivery the same day.
