Simmons is First Democrat in History of District 36 to Receive Cross-Endorsement from CT Independent Party

Submitted by the campaign for Democrat Nick Simmons candidate for State Senate District 36

In early September Nick Simmons, candidate for Connecticut State Senate District 36, accepted cross-endorsement by the Independent Party of Connecticut, marking the first time a Democratic State Senate candidate has received cross-endorsement from the Independent Party in the history of the District.

“I am deeply honored to be the first Democrat in the history of Senate District 36 to receive a cross-endorsement from the Connecticut Independent Party,” Simmons said. “This endorsement underlines our shared dedication to bipartisan leadership, fiscal responsibility, and a more prosperous future. I look forward to advocating on behalf of all residents of the 36th District, regardless of party.”

John Fahan, Treasurer of the Independent Party of CT, noted, “Nick’s dedication to lowering our cost of living, creating a business-friendly environment that grows our economy, and strengthening our democracy aligns perfectly with our party’s values. His common sense approach to leadership makes him exceptionally suited to represent independent-minded voters in the State Senate.”

This endorsement means Simmons will appear on both the Democratic and Independent ballot lines in the upcoming November election, marking a historic first for the State Senate District 36.

Ryan Fazio, the Republican nominee, also campaigned for the Independent Party’s endorsement, underscoring its potential influence on the election outcome. In an email to supporters seeking support with petition signatures, he asserted that, “The Independent Party cross endorsement could be the difference for our Republican campaign this year. Either they get it or we get it—and it needs to be us.”

With immense gratitude for the support from the Independent Party, Nick Simmons looks forward to achieving common ground and bipartisan solutions in Hartford.
