SAVOV: It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me.

It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me. I stood by and watched parts of my own local RTC turn our party into the dumpster-truck-fire catastrophe it is now.

Yep, if everyone is going to be all extremist, so will I. We’ve devolved from Republicans working together to eating our own kind. Elected BET officials passing hate notes about their fellow R colleagues just before a public meeting? This isn’t middle school, grow up, you’re the ones voting ON schools. All but one of you abstained for CMS funding (and the one who didn’t voted “No”). So, you talk a big talk but you can’t walk the walk? I am embarrassed for you. The cherry on top is that our Republican fearless leaders had the nerve to turn around and try to take credit for approving the additional funding which was pulled through single handedly by the other party. In what episode of the Twilight Zone are you all in? Are you ok?

Before I continue, I would like to point out that not every R is a bad person. There are many like me who are more moderate; fiscally conservative and socially liberal. Too bad we don’t fit in anymore, benched to the bleachers for not being right enough (literally and politically speaking). I do support Fred and Lauren because I have seen them work with both sides for the betterment of our town, but the rest of my party isn’t so straight forward, and that’s really a shame.

So, here we are, bottom of the 9th with so much misinformation being spread by local Republicans as to what this election is about. I wanted to take a couple minutes out of your busy day to just lay some stuff out. It is important to get this right before November 7th. This is not about being Red, Blue or Purple, Yellow, Pink, it’s about supporting a better pathway for the future of our community and the folks that live in it. Let’s examine some facts.

In just the past four years Greenwich has seen several, dangerous incidents occur as a direct result of a lack of proper investment in school infrastructure.

North Mianus School classroom ceiling collapse GHS Stadium condemned and closed.

Constant flooding and intermittent sewage backup in OGS.

Central Middle School condemned and closed.

Repeating Republican BET denial and delay of funding for OGS.

Repeated Republican BET denial and delay of funding for CMS.

When CMS funding was finally approved earlier this week, not one Republican BET member currently running for re-election voted to support it.

Our local elections have a real impact on our daily lives. So, when you fill out your absentee ballot, or go into the voting booth, remember those facts right above. Vote how you like, but at least you’ll have some cold hard truths to base it off of. Get out and vote on November 7th. This isn’t about supporting your political party, it’s about doing what’s right.

On Election Day, don’t be the problem, be the solution.

NOTE: The deadline to submit letters to the editor about candidates for the Nov 7, 2023 municipal election in Greenwich is Oct 30, 2023 at 12:00 noon.
