The District 9 Republican Town Committee Caucus on January 9th was conducted in an open, fair and friendly manner. A record number of Republicans from Glenville and Pemberwick came out in a rain storm to participate and make their voices heard on the future of our local party.
They made their voices clear by overwhelmingly supporting a slate of six candidates by a more than 2-1 margin. We are beyond thankful for their vote of confidence in us and our commitment to get the RTC back on the winning track.
While we are disappointed that some of the losing candidates have decided to force a primary, we understand and respect their decision to do so.
However, we are deeply troubled in the manner that it was done. The fact that RTC leadership, from outside District 9 were the ones to force this primary is counter intuitive to who we are as a district.
Let us be completely clear that by initiating this taxpayer funded primary, leadership has made it clear that they do not trust the will of the caucus, something that has never happened in the history of District 9.
While we all agree on most policy, we have a different opinion on how the RTC should move forward and be better positioned to not only support our current elected leaders but to recruit and elect the best candidates to run for the state legislature.
The six of us believe that to be effective, the RTC must do better. In contrast to our friends on the other side of the aisle, we are the big tent party. It’s time for the RTC leadership to remember that. They say they support inclusivity but their actions have unfortunately shown that not to be the case. The idea that if you are not always in agreement with them means that you are always against them doesn’t help win elections.
We need to nominate and work to elect the most conservative people we possibly can. That means different things in different areas of the country, Connecticut and even Greenwich.
Our record of individual electoral success, decades in campaign management and leadership of our party on a local, state and national level shows that we continue to be the right choice to help make the RTC great again.
We look forward to a spirited campaign that is in keeping with the long tradition of friendship, kindness and honesty that is the foundation of why Glenville and Pemberwick remain such a special part of our town.
Join us in voting for the conservative slate that has the proven track record of getting Republicans elected. On March 5th polls will be open from 6:00am – 8:00pm at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center.
Remember to vote Row A!!
