LETTER: State Rep Floren Was a Change Agent

Submitted by Drew Marzullo

I am writing to express my deep admiration and profound respect for the career of public service by outgoing State Representative Livvy Floren.

Representative Floren, who has held the seat since 2001, embodies the best of what it means to be a change agent in the community. Over an almost 20-year career in government and in politics, Representative Floren served her constituents with honor and humility.

While our views occasionally diverged on matter of policy, Representative Floren never failed to impress with her independent thinking, a key example being her break from party to support Connecticut Supreme Court Justice Andrew McDonald in his bid to become Chief Justice.

Her championship of doing what is right, even when it’s not easy or popular, is one of the key qualities that has made her an unforgettable force in Connecticut governance.

Her philanthropy both in Greenwich and beyond has benefited thousands.

I have known Rep. Floren and her family for decades and look forward to a continued relationship outside of politics.

I, for one, will miss her leadership greatly.

Thank you Livvy!
