LETTER: Hector Arzeno for Gun Safety in Connecticut

Submitted by Emily Bierman, Emily Bierman, Greenwich Legislative Lead, Moms Demand Action

More than ever, our safety depends on state-level representation that prioritizes gun safety. That is why I am voting for Hector Arzeno, a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate of Distinction, for State Representative from the 151st District. I urge you to join me in taking action against gun violence and voting for Hector Arzeno on November 3rd.

Ninety percent of Americans – including gun owners, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents – agree that action must be taken to reduce gun violence in our country. Connecticut has been a leader in passing smart, safe, gun laws. We cannot risk that these laws will be reversed, especially with a conservative Supreme Court. Our lives and our children’s lives depend on it. Despite having the fifth lowest death rate due to gun violence in America, Connecticut still loses over 180 people to gun violence each year. The issue is also financial. Gun violence costs Connecticut an estimated $1.2 billion annually. Investing in gun violence reduction and intervention programs, like Project Longevity, not only saves lives but also taxpayer dollars.

Arzeno recognizes that the gun safety laws Connecticut has enacted are common sense legislation that should transcend party politics. Raising his four children in Greenwich during the era of Sandy Hook, Arzeno understands the risks of complacency and inaction.

Further, his forty years in finance afford him the skills and understanding to see the fiscal importance of gun safety in our state and community. I am confident that with Arzeno’s leadership, our state can continue to make steps towards creating a safer, stronger community for our families.
