Four new pickle ball courts were approved by the Board of Estimation and Taxes (BET) last week! This is great news for Greenwich residents who play this fast-growing sport. The courts will be located behind the new Eastern Greenwich Community Center. We look forward to a fun pickleball season.
The Republican lead BET is responsible for allocating funds for all town-wide projects.
This coming November important local elections will be held for our town’s Selectman, BET, BOE and the RTM. Voters will decide on town officials who will best serve them and their families while managing the town of Greenwich in an efficient and caring manner. I hope we continue to support the current leadership who are doing a great job!
It is noteworthy that two Democratic BET members launched the fall political process early with an op-ed stating that Republican BET members opposed funding for the pickleball courts. Obviously untrue! Republicans are a majority in the BET and no project can get funded without their support. So, vilifying Republican BET members to get votes in November is unnecessary, in poor taste and unbecoming of town elected officials.
The Republican majority voted in support of building the pickle ball courts at market rate, the right price for the right size project. Due diligence and oversight on spending taxpayers’ dollars is what taxpayers expect (and deserve) when we elect members to the BET.
I am glad we have people who are knowledgeable and care about our money watching over our taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars. I will certainly vote for local BET Republicans this fall.
