JOHNSON: Camillo is committed to making Greenwich the envy of other communities

Submitted by Marc V. Johnson, Served on the Board of Estimate and Taxation 2012 – 2015

While many running for public office in Greenwich promise to raise private funds for public projects, Fred Camillo has actually succeeded. Leadership donations for the new Eastern Civic Center and acquisition of over 90 acres of unspoiled land for the Greenwich Land Trust are two recent examples.

Each year the Town plans and budgets for needed capital projects of at least $50 million. For the current year the budget is over $100 million. Most of these projects are for road, storm drainage, sewer, school, and building repairs and improvements.

Lost in the shuffle are recreational needs and open space preservation. Look how long it has taken to build a new Easter Civic Center. Fred understands this and has found a way to expand funding for these projects through the generosity of residents who love Greenwich and want to help make it better for all of us. He is committed to making Greenwich the envy of other communities and has proven it. Please join me in voting for Fred on November 7th so he may continue this great effort.
