The event, “From Adolescents to Young Adults: What Families Need to Know About Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation,” is designed for families supporting a loved one through depression, OCD, or PTSD.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an FDA-approved, non-invasive treatment that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate underactive areas of the brain associated with depression, OCD, PTSD, and anxiety disorders. Unlike medications that affect the entire body, TMS precisely targets specific brain regions to restore neural function—with approximately 90% of patients with treatment-resistant depression experiencing significant improvement.

Event Attendees will learn:

  • What TMS is and how it works

  • Benefits and indications for teens, young adults, and adults

  • How pairing TMS with therapy may produce results that other treatments have not

  • What to look for when choosing a TMS provider

“For families who have watched a loved one struggle through depression or other mental health conditions, navigating treatment options can feel overwhelming,” said Laurel Scarlata, President of NAMI Southwest CT. “This event is an opportunity to hear directly from a leading expert and get information about a treatment option you may not be aware of.”

The webinar is free and open to the public. Registration is available at NAMIsouthwestCT.org.
