What You Need to Know about the 2022 Paper Shredding Event

On Saturday Oct 8 at Island Beach parking lot, between 9:30am and 12:00 noon, have your old documents shredded on-site and be assured the shreds will be recycled.

Cost is $3 per box, cash only.

Max 5 boxes per car.

Greenwich Residents only.

Bring papers in cardboard or rigid boxes similar to case of wine box.

Papers in bags cannot be accepted.

Remove envelopes, folders, plastic bindings, metal clips (staples are ok).

Every box of paper shredded takes us a small step closer to a healthier planet.

Shredding paper has many benefits:

• Safely destroys personal data on documents
• Paper shreds are recycled and turned into a variety of new products
• Fewer trees are cut which slows the destruction of nature and allows the trees to continue to cool the earth, hold soil to prevent flooding and provide homes for wildlife

The last several years have been riddled with devastating fires, floods, storms and hotter than normal temperatures around the world. Cooling our planet cannot happen in a day. There is no simple fix. Make a personal commitment to do one small thing each day to contribute to a healthier planet. Protect and preserve natural resources. Besides general recycling, find ways to donate items for re-use. Save water. Turn your engine off – don’t idle.

This event is sponsored by The First Bank of Greenwich and Santaguida Sanitation who are committed to helping Greenwich residents keep personal data safe while contributing to a healthier planet.
