Great Captain Island Coastal Clean Up Seeks Volunteers

Join Conservation Staff at Great Captain Island, a 17.2-acre Town-owned island with a historic lighthouse that was built in 1868.

The coastal cleanup is set for Saturday, September 13.

Meet in the Grass Island Marina Parking lot at 8:45am. The boat will leave promptly at 9:00am from the Grass Island dock.

The cleanup will take place from when the group arrives on the island until approximately 11:00am and the group will return to the Grass Island dock between 11:30am and 12:00 noon.

All non-biodegradable trash will be tallied and reported to Save the Sound for submission to the Ocean Conservancy which coordinates with organizations worldwide to analyze the pollution of the earth’s waters.

Please bring gloves and buckets from home, though there be some available on site as well.
