The Junior League of Greenwich hosted its 12th year of Casino Day at The Nathaniel Witherell, where residents recently tried their luck.
For the past 12 years the Junior League has brought Casino Day to residents at The Nathaniel Witherell.
At this annual event, laughter indeed is the best medicine. The idea is to provide a day of entertainment for the entire senior community. The event featured Bingo, Roulette, Slot Machines and other casino themed games provided by Ace and Jack Enterprises, located in Valley Stream, New York.
The event was put on by the Junior League’s “Done in a Day” committee, as well as Greenwich High School volunteers who announced Bingo.
The room was decorated in a casino theme and the residents were able to enjoy food from Balducci’s, cake from Stop & Shop and other refreshments.
The residents were also able to win cash prizes and gift certificates, including on-site spa services and other goodies. It was a fun-filled day for all and excitement filled the room.
“The Junior League is proud to have been able to bring a day of fun to the residents at The Nathaniel Witherell for 12 years now,” said Junior League President Elizabeth Peyton shared. “This event is a great way to bring the thrill of a casino to the residents without having to leave the home.”
Carissa Ronish, the Therapeutic Recreation Administrator at the center said Casino Day at The Nathaniel Witherell was a huge success.
“Residents, their families and even staff enjoyed trying their luck at the slots, black jack, roulette and even a competitive game of Bingo!” Ronish said.
Ronish said events like Casino Day contribute to an enriching and diverse resident life
experience at The Witherell.
“I was impressed by the caliber of this event,” she added. “No detail was spared. The event featured professional card dealers, a generous spread of refreshments, prizes and friendly service. We look forward to next year’s Casino event!”
