Mark Your Calendars for Paper Shredding Event: April 18 in Island Beach Lot

As spring beckons, it’s time to clear out those old financial, legal and medical documents with your sensitive personal information.

Bring them along to be shredded on Saturday, April 18, from 9:30-noon at Island Beach parking lot.  The Greenwich Recycling Advisory Board and Greenwich Green & Clean are once again offering this opportunity to protect residents against identity theft while capturing paper for recycling.

The Earth Day event is a reminder to keep paper out of the trash.  Paper comes from trees which absorb carbon dioxide, provide clean air, beauty and homes for wildlife.

To streamline the process, residents are requested to minimize the amount of paper to be shredded and sort through papers so that only those containing personal information are shredded. Remove folders, cardboard, metal clips, binders, plastic, covers, books, newspapers, magazines; staples are okay. There is a four box maximum (box size approximately 12”x 18”x 12”) per car at a cost of $4 per box.

Healthy food donations will be welcome as an opportunity to give back to the community.  Drop off canned and dried foods which will be distributed to Neighbor-to-Neighbor.
