Plans Announced for Independence Day in Greenwich 2025

In Greenwich the annual celebration of Independence Day, organized by  the Independence Day Association of Greenwich, will take place at town hall on Friday, July 4 at 9:00am.

For a second year, the event will be staged behind town hall, which was done out of necessity last year when town hall covered by scaffolding.

The different venue proved quieter than the front of town hall and afforded a welcome breeze. It also afforded a wide open space to enjoy the giant American flag.

People with difficulty navigating stairs will again be directed to the lower parking lot to avoid them.

The original style American flag will be raised.

Greenwich Scouts will parade the flags of the 13 colonies.

Patriots from Greenwich who served the cause of the American Revolution will be saluted.

Portions of the Declaration of Independence will be read.

Good Citizenship awards will be distributed.

The Sound Beach Community Band will play patriotic songs.

An American flag birthday cake will be served inside Town Hall after the ceremony.

NOTE: Holly Hill will be closed on Friday, July 4. They will reopen with their regular hours on Saturday, 7:00 to 12:00 noon.
