Memorial Day Means Jim Fixx Road Race! Register Today!

threads and treadsThe Dept of Parks & Rec and Threads and Treads announce that registration for the Fifty First running of the Jim Fixx Greenwich Memorial Day Road Race is now in progress.

This year’s Five Mile Run is scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2015, starting at 8:15 am. There will also be a half-mile run for children through middle school age on the Havemeyer Field Track, behind Greenwich Town Hall, immediately following the five-mile race.

Runners may register in person at Threads and Treads, 17 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, during store hours. You may also register online at Information flyers may also be obtained at Greenwich Town Hall, Eastern Greenwich Civic Center and Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center.

Registration will also be available the morning of the race at the Greenwich Senior Center, 299 Greenwich Avenue, by the starting line from 6:45 am to 7:45 am only. Participants will fill out paper registration forms and cash or checks will be the only forms of payment accepted at Registration on the Morning of the Race.

This challenging run continues to be one of the more popular races in the area. The beautiful course starts at the Senior and Arts Center on Greenwich Avenue, includes central Greenwich and Bruce Park and concludes on the Havemeyer Field Track.

The run is the second leg of the Greenwich Cup 2015 Series and the Fixx Race is co-sponsored by The Greenwich Old Timers Athletic Association.

Commemorative T-shirts are provided to the first 300 entrants and The Old Timers will provide trophies to the top finishers in a variety of age categories in both events. Medals will also be presented to all participants in the kid’s run, with trophies presented to top finishers in two boys and two girls age categories.

Other race features include three on-course water stations and post-race refreshments.
