Live Reindeer Return to McArdle’s for Four Weeks

Screen Shot 2014-11-14 at 10.37.43 PMSanta and his four live reindeer will soon return to McArdle’s Florist & Garden Center for the sixth Annual Greenwich Reindeer Festival and Santa’s Workshop, November 28 through Christmas Eve, December 24, 2014.

From noon to 6:00pm on Friday, Nov. 28, the community is invited to a “We’re Back” celebration at McArdle’s to welcome the reindeer and officially open Santa’s Workshop for photos with Santa.

A ribbon cutting will take place at noon with featured guest: Santa!

Refreshments will be provided by Cosi. Face painting and balloon artists will be on tap as everyone waits in anticipation of the reindeer’s arrival later in the afternoon for their month-long stay.

This year Pepsi is sponsoring a name-the-reindeer contest. Children are invited to choose names for the reindeer by entering their selections in a ballot box at McArdle’s. Santa will draw the winning names on December 7. The winners will receive some exciting prizes.

Inside McArdle’s at the holiday wonderland guests can explore Santa’s Workshop, where families, children, corporate groups and even pets can have their photo taken with Santa. (Photo packages begin at $29.99 and include a Shreve Crump & Low gift bag filled with promotions redeemable at participating downtown Greenwich stores.)

Digital photos will also be available with photo packages. Everyone who has their photo with Santa can enter a raffle to win a Mercedes-Benz pedal car from Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich. Two winners will be named on December 24.

Photos with Santa will take place Monday through Friday, 12:00 noon to 6:00pm; Saturday, 9:00am to 6:00pm; and Sunday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Santa will remain at McArdle’s until 4:00pm on Christmas Eve.

Throughout the four weeks, everyone is welcome to view the reindeer. Feeding times will take place daily at 9:00am and 4:00pm. The reindeer will remain at McArdle’s until December 23.

James McArdle is happy to host the event again this year.  “It’s been a wonderful experience being part of this event and seeing people so enchanted by the reindeer and Santa,” McArdle said.

Throughout the festival, there will be a Kids in Crisis Giving Tree at McArdle’s, and on Dec. 6 and 7, during the 6th Annual Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend, $5 from every photo package, as well as $5 from every wreath purchased, will be donated to Kids in Crisis.
