With Halloween just days away, customers from near and far are making Sophia’s Costume Shop a destination for Halloween gear.
Since Greenwich has a high percentage of vaccinated residents and low Covid positivity rates, Halloween is shaping up to be closer to normal.
Located at 1 Liberty Way, Sophia’s, which also features gifts, jewelry on consignment and vintage clothing, is again a destination for unforgettable, unique and over-the-top Halloween costumes to rent or purchase.
Back in 1981 Sophia Scarpelli opened her costume and vintage shop a stone’s throw from Greenwich Avenue.
Initially the the 50’s and the roaring 20’s costumes were popular, and Scarpelli quickly rented a dozen poodle skirts and flapper dresses.
Halloween 2021 is extra special since the holiday was virtually canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Today customers are hankering for everything from 70s ensembles to wild west get ups, and from Renaissance costumes to horror movie themed outfits.
Whether you peruse her two floors of costumes, or order online, you’ll be certain to turn heads this Halloween.
Ms Scarpelli said that while the internet has siphoned off some business, she benefits from the loyalty of customers who return year after year, as well as newcomers discovering her unique shop for the first time.
Asked what brings her joy, Scarpelli said she enjoys the process of helping a customer find just the right costume.
Choose from a vast array of thousands of authentic period costumes and accessories for women, men and children. Make this Halloween one to remember.
Sophia’s is located at 1 Liberty Way in Greenwich.
