Greenwich Youth Conservation Program Accepting Applications for Summer “Learn & Earn” Program

Now through April 30, the Greenwich Youth Conservation Program (GYCP) is accepting applications from local 14- and 15-year-olds for its summer program.

The GYCP is a unique public-private “learn and earn” program administered by the Town Departments of Human Services and Parks and Recreation.

Now celebrating its 45th year, the GYCP’s mission is to develop the potential of young Greenwich

teens and enhance the town’s green spaces through their conservation work. GYCP teens gain first-job experience and receive skills training on topics such as personal budget management, resume writing and teen life skills.

Local sponsors and donors provide each participant with a $275
stipend.

This summer, 112 spots will be available. Each teen will participate in a two-week work session between June 26th and August 17th. Daily program hours are from 8:00am-3:30pm. Participants will plant trees, remove invasive plants, and complete other conservation projects in parks throughout Greenwich.

Any Greenwich resident ages 14-15 may apply, including students from public or private schools.

The GYCP application form can be found at this link: GYCP Application.

Applicants will be required to complete a group interview in early May and notified of their selection status in late May.
