In celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Month, the Conservation Commission and Conservation Dept staff will be hosting their annual Great Captain Island Clean-Up on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 8:30am to 1:00pm.
Volunteers will meet at the Grass Island Boat Launch Ramp and travel to Great Captain Island aboard one of the Parks and Recreation Marine Facilities boats. Boat space is limited to a maximum of 25 participants, and registration is required.
Please register using the Sign Up link and be sure to specify the number of participants in your party.
(Rain date is Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the same times.)

Participants should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes and bring sunscreen, bug spray, and a reusable water bottle. Trash bags and disposable rubber gloves will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own cleanup and safety supplies if preferred.
Every piece of trash removed is one less piece of pollution threatening our waterways and marine life. Together, small actions can make a big impact. Join the clean up. Get out on the water, and be part of the cleanup.
