Brunswick School’s “Soup” er Bowl Food Drive Helps Less Fortunate

Brunswick School held their Annual “Soup”er Bowl Food Drive with Neighbor to Neighbor. Brunswick Lower School partnered with Neighbor to Neighbor in an effort to give back to the Greenwich community through an engaging food drive centered around the 60th Super Bowl.

Students chose between the two teams who played-off in the Superbowl: Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. The team of their choice then received a donated food item. The entrance hallway was separated by Team Seahawks and Team Patriots, where the crates of food were stacked. By the end of the drive, a total of 20 crates – an estimated 500 lbs of food – was donated. Students from the sixth grade helped assist the Neighbor to Neighbor staff by carrying crates back to the van. They expressed enthusiasm for both the Super Bowl and the food drive.

“I think the food drive is an amazing thing, and I really think that it can benefit our community,” said William Eddy, a sixth grader.

“I think this is a really good idea, because we get to help out people who are less fortunate than us, so they can enjoy the Super Bowl and eat a good meal,” said James Earls, another sixth grader.

Brunswick School is a college preparatory school for boys, Pre-K to 12. For many years, Brunswick staff and students have collaborated with Neighbor to Neighbor in an effort to tackle food insecurity in the Greenwich community.

Students continue to extend their help through food drive initiatives, as well as volunteering at the pantry.

Brunswick will show their support once more this month through a Packathon event where students will prepare bags of rice and beans.

“We are incredibly grateful to Brunswick for their continued generosity and commitment to our community,” said K. Brent Hill, Executive Director of Neighbor to Neighbor. “Their support of this Super Bowl food drive helps ensure that local families have access to nutritious food when they need it most. Partnerships like this truly make a difference, and we deeply appreciate Brunswick’s ongoing dedication to fighting food insecurity.
