Garden Club of Old Greenwich Members Honored at Annual Meeting

Members of the Garden Club of Old Greenwich gathered for an afternoon tea and annual meeting at the Riverside Yacht Club on Friday, June 11, the first in person meeting of the club this year.

Throughout the pandemic, the Garden Club has worked very hard to adapt to Covid regulations and to continue its work in the community so there was much to celebrate. 

In addition to regular business and a recap of the club’s work this year, he event honored the many achievements of the club and members also received awards.

Laurel Kenner was awarded the “Barbara Bainbridge Trophy” for outstanding work in Horticulture.

Char Barnes was awarded the “Louise Weber Bowl” for introducing an innovation or new project that benefits the Club’s management, program, reputation or role in the community.

Ros Brady was awarded the “Harriet Benner Volunteer Award” for outstanding volunteer serviceLiz Johnson with the “Robert Soule Kieffer Memorial Trophy” for a member less than 2 years with a significant contribution to the GCOG.

Martina Doshan was awarded the “Jane Sargent Trophy” for a member of more than 10 years whose garden related skills perpetuate the aims and purpose of the GCOG.

Wendy MacDonald was awarded the “Bunny Tufts Award”  for the member who exemplifies the characteristics of the artist – graciousness, artistic ability and sensitivity.

Beth Eaton was awarded the “Bradford N. Clark Award”  for civic and community betterment.

Ellie Bowman was awarded the “Council of Presidents Award” for dedication in furthering the purposes of the Garden Club of Old Greenwich.

Kara Donahue was awarded the “Nicole Standish Award” for outstanding service to the Garden Club of Old Greenwich.
