Follow the Star Exhibit of Creches at Christ Church Set for November 9-11, 2018

Christ Church Greenwich Presents “Follow the Star: Nativities of the World” with an opening night patron party and exhibit on Nov 8. The exhibit runs from November 9 – 11.

The Arts and Spirit Committee of Christ Church Greenwich is pleased to announce an extraordinary event taking place this November 8-11: Follow the Star: Nativities of the World.

This marks the 10th anniversary of the successful show, which originally took place in 2008. The exhibit will include over 70 nativity scenes donated by local residents from several churches, who have collected them in an array of sizes from around the world. Some are sophisticated, hauntingly lovely works of art, created by master craftsmen. Others are done by simple artisans, who use locally available materials to tell the story the only way they know how, in terms of their own lives – where they live and what flora and fauna flourish there, as well as what their families and neighbors look like, wear and value. While the differences between the scenes provide a fascinating study in cross-cultural anthropology, what unites them is far more significant. Together they reinforce the universality of the life-changing story of the birth of Jesus Christ, serving as vivid reminders that He came to save us all.
