DATE CHANGE: First Congregational Church to Host Annual Blessing of the Animals

Update:  First Congregational Church in Greenwich’s annual Blessing of the Animals has been moved to from Saturday to Sunday, Oct 1 from 12:00pm to3:00pm due to heavy rain.

All members of the community are invited to bring their pet (dog, cat, fish, hamster – you name it) for a blessing with Pastor Patrick and Pastor Cydney on the church’s front lawn.

The annual tradition stems from Genesis 1: “God lovingly created all of the creatures of the earth, He blessed them and declared that they were good.”

New this year is the addition of a petting zoo, brought to the church by Blue Iris Farm, an animal rescue center based in Lebanon, Connecticut.

The zoo will comprise various small animals including chicks, rabbits, guinea pigs and a baby goat. Everyone is welcome, entry is free-of-charge.

First Congregational Church of Greenwich is located at 108 Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich.

First Congregational Church of Greenwich is an open and affirming congregation and we strive to overcome exclusionary practices, discrimination and violence. As Jesus accepted and included all people, so do we as individuals and as a congregation welcome all who wish to enter our community, without exception.
