The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich is holding an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course designed to equip teens and adults with the skills and confidence to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies.
The comprehensive course will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich‘s pool at 4 Horseneck Lane.
The course is open to participants ages 15 and older.
Upon successful completion, participants will earn an American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification valid for two years.
The course prepares participants with professional-level lifeguarding skills, including active surveillance, rescue techniques, first aid, CPR, and AED use for adults, children, and infants. Combining classroom instruction, hands-on practice, and in-water skill assessments, the program ensures students are confident and job-ready.
“This course is about much more than earning a certification,” said Janet Poillon, Aquatics Director at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich. “Water safety is a critical life skill. Whether our participants go on to work as lifeguards or simply feel more confident around the water, they are gaining the knowledge and training to save lives. In a community like ours, where aquatics play such a big role year-round, having well-trained people who understand prevention and emergency response makes a real difference.”
In addition to building lifesaving skills, the course offers teens an opportunity to develop responsibility and leadership while earning a respected credential that can open doors to summer and year-round employment.
