The theater club at Western Middle School is set to perform Freaky Friday the Musical this weekend. Directed by Johanna Kolar, with musical direction from Justin Brehm and choreography by Kendall Moran, performances are scheduled for Friday, March 28 at 7:00pm and Saturday, March 29 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm.
Tickets are $10 for all performances. Tickets can be purchases in school or at the door. (Cash or check only).
Freaky Friday tells the story of a daughter and her mother who magically swap bodies, ultimately resulting in their appreciation for each other’s challenges in the lead up to the mother’s wedding.
Freaky Friday was originally a book written by Mary Rodgers – daughter of the famous songwriter Richard Rodgers. It was a movie in 1976 starring Jodie Foster. There was a remake in 1995, and another in 2003 with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curits. From there it was written as a Broadway musical and a Disney Channel Original Movie, which is the version Western’s theater club will present this weekend.
