The Fairfield University Glee Club Returns to St. Catherine’s on April 2

Fairfield University Glee ClubThe Fairfield University Glee Club directed by Dr. Carole Ann Maxwell will be returning to St. Catherine’s for a concert, Saturday, April 2.  It is a magnificent choir of over 100 mixed voices.

Along with the Glee Club and Chamber Singers  it will also feature club soloists, The Bensonians, men’s a cappella group,  and Sweet Harmony, women’s a cappella group.

The concert,  “Music for a Spring Evening,”  will feature pieces from the choir’s Italian Tour as well as  works from Brahms and Bernstein, including West Side Story.    Tickets are $10 pre-sale and $15 at the door. There is no charge for children.

The Fairfield University Glee Club, founded in 1947, is the oldest club on the Fairfield University campus. The members share a deep love for music and a common desire to achieve excellence in it. The Glee Club numbers over 130 undergraduate and graduate singers. Their voices explore a wide variety of repertoire, experiencing diverse styles of music and enriching audiences with programming that challenges and inspires.

Dr. Carole Ann Maxwell has served as Director of Choral and Liturgical Music for Fairfield University since 1980. She has prepared and conducted choruses all over the world, and she extends her commitment to bring exceptional choral music to singers and audience members throughout Fairfield County. Dr. Maxwell has been the artistic director of The Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut since its inception in 1984.
