North Greenwich Church to Offer Free Earth Day Bird Walk and Talk with Meredith Barges

Earth Day, Sunday, April 23 Morning Bird Walk at Audubon Greenwich with Meredith Barges!

All are warmly invited to join Meredith Barges, a Master of Divinity student in her final year at Yale University, preparing for work as a Bird Conservationist & EarthCare Chaplain sowing seeds of care in our climate-changing world. 

Earth Day weekend is a time of significant bird migration, and some spectacular birds should come into view at Audubon.  

Schedule:

9:00 am – meet in the Audubon parking lot (corner of Riversville Road & John Street for the 45-minute bird walk/talk and introduction to the LIGHTS OUT Connecticut initiative in support of migratory birds.

9:00-9:45am – Bird Walk

10:30 am – Earth Day Sunday service at North Greenwich Church (606 Riversville Road) featuring Meredith Barges, who will speak about the two birds in Noah’s Ark, the raven and the dove, referencing readings from Genesis and what the flood and ark are telling us now about our climate-changing world and the implications of Creation Care for all species and people around the world.

All are welcome!

Bring your own binoculars, or you may borrow/share some that Meredith will have that morning. ALL are welcome.

Meredith Barges is co-chair of Lights Out Connecticut and a policy researcher at Yale Law School, where she works toward system changes to make our cities and towns safer for migratory birds.

Barges is a Master of Divinity student at Yale Divinity School, and is exploring ways to support the mutual thriving of people and places through eco-chaplaincy and bird conservation. In 2021, Barges helped convince Yale Divinity School to join Lights Out (a non-profit project of the Audubon Alliance) to dim excess lights during peak bird migration seasons.
