Greenwich Library’s longest-running program — the Friends Friday Films series—is back with a full slate of movies, beginning Friday, April 4 at 7:00pm.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Greenwich Library, the series seeks to provide audiences with a diverse array of films to enjoy. Featuring new Hollywood hits, Award winners, documentaries, international titles and films to highlight concurrent events at the Library, there is a takeaway for everyone in this lineup. Come let the art of film entertain and inspire you every Friday at 7pm. English language films are shown with closed captions, and international films will be subtitled.
All films will be screened in the Berkley Theater beginning at 7 p.m. on their given week. Registration, available on the Library’s calendar, is encouraged for each week’s film.

Friday, April 4: The Crime is Mine (2023)
In this comedic caper set in 1930s Paris, a young actress finds herself accused of murdering a lecherous producer; her roommate, an aspiring lawyer, takes on the case. The path to finding the truth is quickly twisted with unexpected turns as bureaucrats, businessmen and a famed older actress (the hilarious Isabelle Huppert) start butting in. 1h42m. Rated R for some language and brief nudity.
Reel Talk: After the film, stay with us for a Q&A with Joe Meyers, the Director of Programming for the Focus on French Cinema festival. An experienced reporter of many years, Meyers has shared his film criticism in print for many publications including the Connecticut Post and Greenwich Time.
Friday, April 11: Minari (2020)
In conjunction with the Flinn Gallery’s show “Biophilia,” we are proud to show this touching drama about a South Korean family moving to rural 1980s Arkansas in search of the American Dream. Nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Steven Yeun), and Best Original Screenplay, the film scored a Best Supporting Actress award for Youn Yuh-jung as the grandma who arrives to remind the family of their roots and resilience. English and Korean with subtitles. 2h. Rated PG-13.

Before you enjoy the Friends Comedy Night on April 28, come join us for this hilarious dive into one of the most important touchpoints for American comedy: the hours before the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live in 1975. An exceptional ensemble cast (including Willem Dafoe, J.K. Simmons and Jon Batiste) portrays the hectic buildup to the show’s premiere as ferocious young entertainers seek to upend established notions of comedy. 1h50m. Friday, May 2: Conclave (2024)
Oscar nominees Ralph Fiennes and Isabella Rossellini star alongside John Lithgow and Stanley Tucci in this mesmerizing drama about the election of a new Pope. With the air of a political thriller, the Oscar-winning script will have you on the edge of your seat as the Cardinal tasked with overseeing the ancient ritual (Fiennes) uncovers one shocking turn after another. Friday, June 6: The Last Rifleman (2023)
In observance of the anniversary of D-Day, join us for this moving film based on the true story of a WWII veteran determined to pay his respects at the 75th commemoration of D-Day. Pierce Brosnan gives a beautiful performance as the man who embarks on the arduous journey from his care home in Northern Ireland to Normandy, finding the courage for self-evaluation and facing the ghosts of his past along the way. 1h35m. Friday, June 13: A Complete Unknown (2024)
Oscar nominee Timothee Chalamet disappears into his role as Bob Dylan in this electrifying musical biopic. Focused on the chapter of Dylan’s life when he arrives in 1960s Greenwich Village, the film captures his meteoric rise to fame and his relationships with Pete Seeger (Oscar nominee Edward Norton) and Joan Baez (Oscar nominee Monica Barbaro). The movie does not rest on the laurels of Dylan’s music, truly transporting viewers into the period and its revolution. 2h20m. Rated R for language.
Friday, June 20: Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed (2023)
For Pride Month, join us for this compelling documentary about classic Hollywood icon Rock Hudson, featuring interviews with close friends and former partners. Hudson’s ascension as a heartthrob movie star while he was pressured to stay in the closet provides a valuable prism through which to learn about public perception of gay Americans from the post-WWII years through the AIDS crisis. 1h45m. Rated PG-13.
Friday, June 27: Paddington in Peru (2025)
In the newest installment of the hit family franchise, Paddington Bear and his adoptive human family are off to the jungles of Peru to find Paddington’s missing Aunt Lucy. Joining the adventure are a hilarious Olivia Colman as a nun and Antonio Banderas as an Amazon riverboat captain, whose motives might not be what they seem. The wholesome joy of Paddington brings something for viewers of any age! 1h46m. Rated PG.
