Christ Church Greenwich Announces Randall Atcheson Organ Performance: From Bach to Rock!

Christ Church announced Randall Atcheson’s upcoming organ performance, “From Bach to Rock,” will take place on Friday, May 9, 6:00 pm in  Christ Church Greenwich’s main sanctuary. It will be followed by a reception in Parish Hall.

Experience the showmanship of Randall Atcheson as he brings the Harrison & Harrison organ to life with dazzling outfit changes, a thrilling mix of rock, hymns, classical masterpieces, patriotic favorites, and a stunning synchronized light show.

Randall Atcheson has performed globally, including at Carnegie Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral, and U.S. presidents. With a repertoire spanning classical masterpieces to sacred music, his performances captivate and inspire audiences worldwide with a passionate following.

He is the only person in the history of the prestigious Juilliard School of Music in New York City to receive simultaneous degrees in both piano and organ. He is a Steinway Artist, has recorded sixteen albums, performed on five continents, played for three Presidents, and has performed fourteen solo concerts at Carnegie Hall. An avid runner, he has run the New York Marathon, and ran almost 5,000 miles last year.

The magnificent Harrison & Harrison Organ at Christ Church Greenwich was dedicated in 2022. It is the culmination of a nine-year process of discernment, design, production, and installation. Containing a total of 4,639 pipes, it was built in Durham, England, and represents the largest organ made by Harrison & Harrison in the USA. The range of sound available to the player is vast.

The organ is unique in that it contains orchestral colors, such as a Tuba, French Horn,Clarinet, Orchestral Oboe, Cor Anglais, and Orchestral Strings, as well as a percussion section that features a harp, chimes, and two sets of bells. Listening to this organ is like taking a thrilling fair ground ride, keeping you on the edge of your seat in anticipation of the next unique combination of sounds
