A Ribbon is Cut at Old Greenwich Social Club!

First Selectman Peter Tesei shared the honors of cutting the ribbon-for the much anticipated opening of Old Greenwich Social Club in the spot that was home for many years to McKenzie’s Grille. A crowd of family, friends and reporters gathered for the ceremony, followed by a chance to peek inside the renovated bar and restaurant.

The space is decorated with local memorabilia, much of which was donated by locals, who stopped by to check out the renovation as it unfolded. The restaurant will have its soft opening Friday night offering bar snacks and appetizers. Throughout the week they will gradually add items to the menu, according to owner Jed Simon.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” said General Manager Andrew Blythe of the enthusiasm surrounding the opening of Old Greenwich Social Club.  Mr. Blythe, who worked for Fairway Wine & Spirits for 8 years after previously working as a chef for many years, met Mr. Simon while planning the opening of Fairway Wine & Spirits.  He said he’s excited about the beer offerings at Old Greenwich Social Club and that they include an array of craft beers from the northeast. “We have a good cross-section of craft beers from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and New England. Also, we’ll always have two or three lines dedicated to local brewers, including Two Roads out of Stratford and Half Full from Stamford.”

Old Greenwich Social Club is located at 148 Sound Beach Ave in Old Greenwich.

They do not take reservations except for parties of 6 or more.
