I have been a lifelong Republican, but I have never been a party-line voter. I have always believed that we should vote for the person we feel is best suited to represent us—not simply the letter next to a candidate’s name. This November, that means I will be voting for Democrat Steve Meskers.
My support for Steve comes from my own experience working with him on issues affecting our community. Steve has taken my calls 100% of the time. He listens to my concerns, asks questions, and, most importantly, takes action.
To me, that is what public service should look like.
At a time when our politics can feel increasingly divided and partisan, I appreciate an elected official who is willing to listen to people regardless of party affiliation and work with both sides of the aisle in pursuit of what he believes is best for the community he represents.
You don’t have to agree with someone on every issue to recognize character, integrity, responsiveness and a genuine commitment to public service. I vote for the person, not the party.
This November, I’m a Republican voting for Steve Meskers.
