A continued investigation by the Greenwich Police Organized Retail Crime Abatement (ORCA) Unit has resulted in additional felony charges against Onyedikachi Chukwujekwu Agu, 30, of New Rochelle, New York, following an investigation into financial crimes and identity theft.
According to police, on July 15, 2026, plainclothes ORCA officers investigated a financial crime at a bank on Greenwich Avenue. Agu was one of four individuals detained during the investigation. Officers recovered forged financial instruments, stolen payment cards, personal identifying information, and numerous checks confirmed to have been stolen and altered. Agu was subsequently arrested.
Following the initial arrest, ORCA Officers DeLuca and Livingston continued the investigation, seizing Agu’s cellular phone and obtaining a Search Warrant for its contents.
The examination of the phone revealed additional evidence related to an organized financial fraud scheme. Investigators determined that Agu trafficked personal identifying information belonging to more than 30 identity theft victims by transmitting the information to multiple co-conspirators through Telegram.
In one exchange with an individual, Agu transmitted approximately 17 checks totaling $200,000, which were subsequently altered. ORCA officers contacted the victim, who confirmed that his company had been the victim of a financial crime and sustained a financial loss.
Based on evidence developed during the follow-up investigation, ORCA Officers DeLuca and Livingston applied for an arrest warrant.
On October 1, 2026, Agu was arrested on the warrant.
Agu was charged with:
