Greenwich DPW to Host Public Information Session on Fairfield Road Culvert Replacement Project

The Greenwich Dept of Public Works will host a Public Information Meeting regarding the “Fairfield Road Culvert Replacement Project.”

The culvert carries the roadway over the East Branch of Brothers Brook.

DPW said based on deficiencies identified during the most recent inspection, the structure received a poor condition rating due to significant repairs needed on the headwalls and culvert, and replacement is recommended to avoid potential road closure and associated traffic impacts in the future.

The proposed project involves both the replacement of the culvert and upgrades to the hydraulic opening of the bridge.

Currently it is in the design phase and is more than 60% complete.

Utility coordination is underway, and the Town is continuing to pursue grant funding through the Connecticut Dept of Transportation Local Bridge Program.

If approved, funding may cover a portion of construction and inspection costs, with reimbursement percentages determined annually. At present, the anticipated reimbursement rate is approximately 50%.

Pending full grant funding approval, construction is anticipated for spring 2027.

The public information meeting will provide an overview of the project, share anticipated timelines, and answer questions from the community.

Additional information is available on the project webpage.
