June 2, 2026 marks what would have been the 29th birthday of Hadiya Pendleton, a teen who was shot and killed in Chicago in 2013, and whose friends chose to wear orange in her honor—a color hunters wear to protect themselves.

Gun violence continues to be one of the leading causes of deaths of
children and teens, and in Connecticut 151 people were killed in 2025.
Please join the Greenwich Board of Selectmen and the Executive Director of CT Against Gun Violence, Earl Bloodworth June 5 at 1:00pm in the Town Hall Meeting Room at Greenwich Town Hall (101 Field Point Road) to commemorate Wear Orange and National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
The lives of victims and survivors of gun violence will be honored and attendees will commit to building safer communities for all.
