The Alliance Française of Greenwich, in partnership with The Bruce Museum, presents the third U.S. Premiere screening of the Festival Season of Focus on French Cinema on Sunday, March 8 2026, at 2:00 pm, at The Bruce Museum.
The Cost of Heaven (Gagne ton ciel) “A powerhouse French Canadian drama about a family man whose life begins to fall apart when the quest for wealth and status take over his life. Samir Guesmi, who starred in the very popular 2021 Focus on French Cinema selection, ‘Ibrahim,’ gives another spectacular performance as a good man who loses his moral compass,” said FFC Director of Programming, Joe Meyers.

Cobalt Miners: The Human Cost of Clean Energy, a documentary film by Luc Hardy, Neil Brandvold and Arthur Nazaryan is the Focus on French Cinema 2026 online film for March, available from March 9-23.
Otala “Eagle” Mujinga runs Shabara, the largest artisanal cobalt mine in Congo that is part of a supply chain that fuels electric vehicles and green technology worldwide. As miners grow increasingly vocal, accusing foreign buyers of underweighing and undervaluing the cobalt they extract, Eagle is caught in the middle. Once a miner himself, he must navigate the threat of unrest among his workforce while maintaining relationships with foreign buyers and partners.
There will be a Q&A with Focus on French Cinema Director of Programming, Joe Meyers, following the March 8 screening of The Cost of Heaven (Gagne ton ciel) as well as a post-screening reception.
