Greenwich Police responded to report of a vehicle having crashed into a residence on Delavan Ave, and the occupants of the vehicle fleeing on foot toward I-95.
The incident took place on Saturday, Aug 23 around 5:00am.
Police said arriving units detained the three vehicle occupants on I-95.
On scene investigation revealed that the arrestee, Emerson David Martinez Hernandez, 31, of Port Chester, NY, had been driving the vehicle that struck the residence and fled after the crash.
An interview of Mr. Hernandez revealed he was operating his cell phone when he lost control of the vehicle, causing him to lose his lane position and crash into the home.
The arrestee did not have a driver’s license on him and advised that he only had a Peruvian License, which he left at home.
Hernandez was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed for:
Evading Responsibility/Injury/Property Damage, Failure to Drive Upon Right, Operating Motor Vehicle with Handheld Device, and Operating Motor Vehicle without License.
He was able to post the minimum 7% of his $5,000 bond in cash and assigned a court date on Sept 8, 2025.
