Greenwich Schools issued an update from the New Lebanon School building committee.
The new school opened in February, and this week demolition of the former school, constructed in the 1950s, is taking under way.
This intra-district elementary International Baccalaureate magnet school is for students in grades PreK-5. The centrally located learning commons, equipped with flexible furnishings and adaptable technological infrastructure, allows for multiple zones of simultaneous learning.
Since the building committee’s May update on abatement of hazardous materials at the school, the building demolition has proceeded and will be completed this month. A punch list and remaining items is ongoing.
Work anticipated for the coming weeks:
• Last Day of School 6.18
• Baseball field reconstruction will begin late June
• Bus loop sitework will begin in late June
• Playground equipment PO to be issued.
The project has received its fourth reimbursement from the state, $3,495,815, which brings the total to date to $15,738,167.
A fifth reimbursement has been revised to the amount of $1,196,911, and is due in early June.
