For families in Greenwich, finding childcare that
nurtures the whole child—emotionally, socially, and academically—can be one of the most important decisions they make.
This fall, the YMCA of Greenwich is proud to open its new state-licensed Early Learning Center, a program designed to support young learners during their most critical years of development.
Part of the Y’s broader mission to build a stronger, more connected community, the new Early Learning Center reflects the organization’s long-standing values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility. Designed to serve as a true extension of family, the program embraces a collaborative “village” model—partnering with parents and local providers to ensure every child is set up to thrive.
The Early Learning Center will serve children ages 6 months to 5 years, offering two developmentally appropriate programs: one for infants and toddlers (6 months to 3 years) and one for preschoolers (3 to 5 years). Hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.
to 6:00 p.m., with extended care options available.
The program follows the Greenwich Public School calendar, running from September 3, 2025, through June 26, 2026.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer a high-quality, affordable childcare option for families in this community,” said Kelley Gordon-Minott, Senior Director of Youth Development at the YMCA of Greenwich.
“The early stages of life are critical for future learning and development. At the Y, we believe every child deserves access to programs that will lay the foundation for lifelong success—no matter their background, ability, or income,” Gordon-Minott added.
At the Y, children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and express themselves. The Early Learning Center’s play-based, hands-on curriculum supports each child’s curiosity and independence while building key life skills like communication, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Certified early childhood educators provide warm, individualized attention, tailoring learning experiences to meet each child’s unique needs and strengths.
This new chapter builds on the YMCA of Greenwich’s long history in early childhood education. After closing its former Early Learning Center in 2020, previously held at St. Roch Church, the Y remained committed to supporting young families by helping them find placements with other providers.
The new Early Learning Center program will be held at the main YMCA of Greenwich facility, with existing childcare spaces renovated to accommodate during the facility’s annual August shutdown.
Children in the program will also have access to the Y’s indoor and outdoor areas, providing additional opportunities for active play, movement, and social interaction throughout the day.
The YMCA of Greenwich is committed to ensuring that any family, regardless of financial status, feels welcome to apply to the program.
Financial assistance is awarded based on a family’s individual needs and circumstances. Additional discounts are available to YMCA of Greenwich members.
