Wrong-Way Driver on Greenwich Ave Faces DUI and Weapons Possession Charges

The driver of a red Chevrolet Silverado faces multiple charges from Greenwich Police after going the wrong way on Greenwich Avenue last week.

Police say that after Adrian Torres, 47, of Milford drove the wrong way up Greenwich Avenue he disregarded a control signal at the intersection with East Elm Street and Mason Street, took a left and headed northbound, then running a red light before being stopped by police.

After Mr. Torres showed signs of alcohol impairment he was unable to perform a pre-exit sobriety test and subsequently refused to submit to a field sobriety test.

He was placed under arrest for DUI.

During a search of the vehicle incident to arrest, a loaded semi-automatic firearm was discovered unsecured in the center console of the vehicle, as well as an additional magazine for the firearm and extra ammunition.

Mr. Torres was charged with DUI, Driving Wrong Way on a One Way Street, Traffic Control Signals and Illegal Carry Firearm/Under the Influence.

He was released from custody after posting the required 10% of his $500 bond, and was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on April 6, 2023.
