Woman Charged with Attempted $150,000 Bank Fraud at Chase Bank in Riverside

On June 22 around 2:00pm, Greenwich Police responded to Chase Bank at 1150 East Putnam Avenue in Riverside on a report of a possible fraudulent transaction.

Mengyan Zhou, 23, (no address listed) was charged with Criminal Attempt Larceny 1, Larceny 1, Criminal Impersonation, Forgery 1, Interfering with an Officer.

According to Lt Nemecek the suspect spoke Cantonese and an interpreter was brought in.

According to Greenwich Police, investigation revealed that Ms. Zhou provided officers with a fake NY license and a Chase business debit card stolen from a legitimate account.

She attempted to depict herself as the bank account holder, attempting to withdraw amounts of $150,000 and $20,000 from an account that did not belong to her.  Zhou also lied to officers several times regarding her identity.

Ms. Zhou’s bond was set t $150,000, which she was unable to post. She has a date in Stamford Superior Court on July 6, 2018.
