Weekend DUI Charge for Driver Asleep at the Wheel in Chickahominy

On Saturday, March 19, just after 7:00am,  Greenwich Police Officers responded the area of Josephine Evaristo Ave and Charles St on the report of a vehicle stopped at a stop sign and the driver asleep behind the wheel.

After waking up the driver, later identified as George C. Rameriz-Matos, 25, was observed by Greenwich Police to be confused, disoriented, lethargic and displayed red bloodshot eyes. Mr. Rameriz-Matos was asked to submit to a series of standardized field sobriety tests, which he subsequently did not perform to standard.

Rameriz-Matos was placed under arrest and charged with Operating Under the Influence, Failure to Obey Stop Sign, Failure to Display Front Plate/Sticker and Defective / Broken Tail Light.

Rameriz-Matos was issued a court appearance date of April 4 at Stamford Superior Court. He was able to post bond of $250 and was released from custody.
