Wanted by the FBI for Hobbs Act Robberies

Christian Velez, 23, is wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s New Haven Field Office, the Connecticut State Police, and multiple Connecticut State Agencies for his alleged involvement in a series of Hobbs Act Robberies throughout Connecticut beginning on September 2, 2021.

Multiple Connecticut state arrest warrants have been issued for Velez since September of 2021. A federal arrest warrant has also been issued for Velez in the United States District Court, District of Connecticut.

In addition to a federal arrest warrant, multiple state arrest warrants have been issued for Velez.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Velez.  Individuals with information concerning this case are encouraged to contact the FBI’s New Haven Field Office at (203) 503-5580, or by submitting a tip online at tips.fbi.gov

Acting US Attorney Boyle stressed that a complaint is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt.  Charges are only allegations, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

This investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Connecticut State Police and several local police departments.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Robert S. Ruff.

Velez should be considered armed and dangerous and an escape risk. He may have violent tendencies.
