Tip Leads to DUI Arrest in Riverside

On Saturday Greenwich Police responded to the area of 1333 East Putnam Ave in Riverside on a report of an erratic driver. Police say it was related by dispatch that the driver was seen exiting the vehicle at some point and appeared to be stumbling.

Police say when they arrived, the car’s ignition was on and the car was in the middle of the travel portion of the parking lot. Police made contact with the accused, identified as John McDonald, 50, of Greenwich, who was observed to have bloodshot and glassy eyes, as well as the odor associated with the consumption of alcohol.

Police say that when exiting the vehicle, the accused was observed to be unsteady on his feet and was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard.

McDonald was charged with Falsify Marker/License/Registration and DUI. He was released after posting the required 10% cash of his $250 bond. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on May 31, 2022.
